Thinking about monetizing your blog and not
sure how to start?
Affiliate Sales are my personal favorite way to start earning. You can start as slow (or fast) as you want. I would recommend starting out with no more than ten in the beginning, and I am going to share the sources that were incredibly valuable in my quest for knowledge about affiliate marketing.
Specific things you need to learn before
starting on your own:
***Here are some of the main facets to cover before diving right in (and I will be here to help!!!):
Choosing an affiliate network :
Find advertisers you would like to work with, or finding and utilizing companies you already use as an independent affiliate. Direct Sales/Network Marketing companies can be a very lucrative addition to your website because you make a LOT higher commission. You may enjoy my HIGH PAYING AFFILIATE PROGRAMS blog post.
Creating a sufficient affiliate disclosure statement:
If you are doing affiliate sales without a blog, you will just need to make sure that you follow FTC guidelines. For social media marketing just make sure you put something like #affiliate in your description.
Learn about “No-follow” links
How to implement them (it is very closely tied to your SEO rating, your affiliate's SEO ranking, and most affiliates tell you specifically how they want you to display each link.). Recently I found an amazing WordPress Plugin called NoFollowAllExternalLinks. Totally free to use and will save you a ton of time because you will not have to manually type it in.
Learning the ins and outs of SEO (search engine optimization)
Get your affiliate ads and products in front of the right audience! A must have reference book for SEO is by James McDonald called SEO FITNESS WORKBOOK.
- Learn about some ways (and MUST HAVE TOOLS) to leverage your social media accounts in your favor.
- The importance of the way your links look, and how to make them more simple and visually appealing to your readers. The two free link shortening services I use are (both FREE): BITLY & PRETTY LINKS.
What helped me:
The course I took that helped make me feel confident and all fired up to go out there and get noticed. Of course you can try to figure it out on your own, but there are so many mistakes (expensive ones) you can avoid.
When I started blogging, I had no idea what a blog was! Through MUCH research and a few helpful and detailed courses I know the ins and outs of how to blog, how to increase traffic(and have it continually grow), and make it profitable!
The community of bloggers is extremely warm and supportive, so I want to chip in with support, inspiration, and friendship!
After you have read that you will feel like a PRO and ready to rock and roll ! If you are considering Affiliate Marketing for your blog, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND “Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing” because Michelle gets into detailed information about things you need to know on the legal side of it all, methods you can use to skyrocket your sales, things that DID NOT work for her. How creating tutorials can be a huge traffic builder, and so much more.
If you are planning to monetize your blog, and aren't sure where to go next, consider this one because you will have ALL of your questions answered by the end of the course. You can ask her private facebook group or email her directly for questions, and she will respond very quickly. Totally worth it.
