Wanna know the secret to getting more traffic to your site?
It is actually much easier than you think…just be more social! The whole process of starting your website, setting up your automatic posts, figuring out which media platforms to start with can all be a LOT to take in and figure out your own groove. At first. Luckily for you, there is no need to reinvent the wheel, there are plenty of people to learn from and get the best tips from.
This should be your first focus.
This is the most powerful, effective, and FREE marketing force to have behind you. Of course, there is a method to the madness. There is an endless amount of posts for just about any idea or problem you can come up with, so you just have to stand out.
This can be done by implementing these 4 tips:
1.) Create gorgeous and Pinnable photos
Grab people's attention and make then want to repin. There are many ways to find great photos (if you don't take them yourself) and here is the best way to find them:
*IvoryMix– Kayla offers 300 styled stock photos FOR FREE, and then if you sign up for the newsletter, you will receive new photos every single month, that are royalty free, which means you can use them how you like when related to your posts (the unspoken rule is to give credit to your photographer).
*Pixabay– completely free stock photos, just type in a keyword of what you are looking for and you will see tons of photos from globe wide photographers. Make sure for each one you download you make a note of that photographers name so you can give proper cred. I messed up the first time I went on there and did a monster download of probably a hundred or so pics, realized I mixed up all the information for each photo, so I had to delete and start over. You don't have to be so diligent, but you wanna give credit to those that are helping draw traffic to your site.
*Pexels– all free photos, royalty free, just make sure to dish out the appropriate credit per photo.
Once you find a source (or more than one source) for awesome photos, next you will absolutely need a photo editing service…and there are plenty of paid and free ones to fit your needs. Currently I am with PicMonkey. Their process and extras were so simple to understand, and the templates I created are stored in my account. So, to switch now would really take a lot of effort, and I am completely happy with what I have. Everything is easy to edit, copy, share, fonts, doodles, pre-made templates that will help you create any ad or project you are looking to create. With ease.

2.) Organize your boards
What this means is limit the boards that are visible. Only show boards that relate to your website. Also, this is very tedious, but necessary…go through each board and each post to make sure there is a detailed and relevant description with hashtags for each one. Also, make sure your name and “about me” profile includes keywords that are relevant to your brand. When people are searching for terms and categories you want your profile to be in the running too (even if they don't know your personal or business name yet).
It looks really good if you put them in alphabetical order too. What I do is put the group boards and my “Best Of” boards first, then all my boards in alphabetical order, then all the group boards (that other people created) that I follow in alphabetical order. Helps bring some order to all the chaos of the bright and vibrant boards and posts.
It is also not a bad idea to place your top performing boards at the top too.

***to move the whole board, you must left click and hold as you move the board. The screen used to scroll with you until recently, so now if you need to move one all the way to the top it kinda sucks, but you just have to realize you are gonna have to screw them all up before they are in order. Trust me, it is worth it.
Don't hate the player, just hate the game. Once you do this, you will notice immdiate results and a dramatic difference in your Pinterest profile.
Start one board at a time, and for each board, fill in the descriptions (including key words that relate to your business or website), choose an awesome and eye-catching photo, & choose an accurate category description (from the drop down).
Since I pin so many pins all the time, I have a secret board that I initially pin them to called “***need descriptions” so then when I have time I will go through them and make sure they are up to par with descriptions and a hashtag or two (I put the *** in front of it because this makes it close to the top of your pins list). This process will be a constant work in progress for you, so any progress is good progress, and your followers will increase.
A website called Pin4Ever is pretty cool and really helps get a lot done if you need to do a lot of cleaning up and organizing. You will have to have Firefox web browser, and then it is installed as a toolbar once it is downloaded. This program will run a backup before you make changes, and you can save any boards you want to. So it is kinda nice to have that security. Definitely not a necessity, but totally worth it if you have to make a lot of changes to your boards and pins.
Below is a screenshot of one of my Pinterest Group Board, Blogging Whirlwind, and I am pretty lax with my terms…I just wanna create a board for fellow bloggers no matter which niche you are in, and to help share each others posts.
If you want to make a Group Board all you have to do is start inviting people (where it says “collaborators” you can enter the people or email of peeps you want to help make an awesome board with, and choose your own terms). If you want to find boards other people started, go to PinGroupie.com, and you can search by niche and find all the group boards (that have registered with PinGroupie) that exist and give you the low down on what to expect and how to apply.
My terms for my group boards have no limit on posts, but seriously just try and share AT LEAST one for every one you post. I will talk about the 80/20 rule later, which would say that to get the most engagement (and this has been proven) you should share at least 5-8 posts for every ONE that you do.
Just as an example, because some boards will say you can have no repeat posts within a month, no more than 3 per day, etc. You have to know the terms you are signing up and comply in order for that board to be beneficial to you. Otherwise, you might as well just start your own! It will help you gain followers too.

We are all grown ass adults, so do what you want, I am just sharing what I have learned from kind heart-ed (and truly genius) bloggers before me that are kicking ass and taking names.
do the same for each post and make sure you have a great description and hashtags so people can find the pins you have on your board when they are searching for specific categories or terms.
Even if it is someone else's pin, this helps you because the more people that link to your profile, the more followers you will gain and you will be respected more and thought of as a blog guru!
If the pin has no shares, some people think that it is better to just delete them. There is a possibility down the road that the pin could go viral and you would then miss out on all those blog visitors. I say, if you love it, just move that one to a secret board. You only want top pins with high number shares that have great descriptions and traffic drawing hashtags.
Even though Hashtags are back, don't go crazy with them. Seriously do one or TWO per post so you are not penalized.
Pinterest has recently changed things, so hashtags are back and super helpful. Necessary even. And the myth that you will lose followers by deleting non performing pins is false! The more bad ass and organized your boards are, the more people will come to you for good ideas.
3.) Next is scheduling slow and consistent posts.
The way to do this without spending hours upon hours a day completing this task is… auto scheduling services! They save the day, seriously!!! And hours and hours of our time. Totally worth $9.99 a month to me. Almost ALL of the different services will offer you one month free trial (to fall in, sweet digital you're really doing me a solid, love) so that is really nice because there are a lot of different ones to choose from.
What you have to know before even shopping around is which social media platforms are you going to start with? Pinterest should be #1, then maybe Facebook, Twitter, , etc. Until you get the hang of how everything works, I would only start with 2-3 TOPS. It is damn near impossible to keep up with everything when you are first learning how to sufficiently blog. The company I use, Viraltag, offers auto posting for Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter (Twitter now allows 280 characters!), Tumblr, Linked In, and Instagram.
Anyway, each company has its own perks and specializes in different platforms. I have tried a few, and am currently paying monthly with VIRALTAG because they offer UNLIMITED posts, free link shortening integrations (if you are doing affiliate marketing this helps a ton), google analytics, Canva Photo Editing service, Evergreen content (posts that are saved and can be scheduled over and over when you set them to run), ideal posting times based on your own personal traffic that is recorded through your analytics. This is super cool because the times will be different for everyone and accurate for your posts.
They also offer “Circles” which is kind of like an extension of Pinterest in the sense that it is filled with hard working bloggers like yourself. There are Circles for every niche, it is free and simple to start your very own, and when you share you are much more likely to get a direct share response from your members. It is there to support each other and help everyone's posts get seen and shared.
So, this is why I love Viraltag and will vouch for them any day.
Some other great choices are:
- Traffic Wonker– This is a new one for me, just signed up for a month free trial, and it looks pretty awesome. I will report back after my first month trial is up! The service offers auto posting for Pinterst, schedules them automatically at the busy times, you just upload your pins, choose the days you want them to post, and the bots do the rest!
- Tailwind is another great addition, since I use Viraltag for my auto posting I only use Tailwind currently for joining and posting in “Tribes”. They are an extension of the Pinterest board concept so you and fellow bloggers will be reading and sharing each others posts.
(Tribes are free so even if you schedule your posts somewhere else, it is totally worth finding some tribes to contribute to. Here is the link to my Tailwind Tribe BloggingWhirlwind)
- Boardbooster is an auto posting service for Pinterest only. They charge a penny per post, give you really detailed analytics on boards and pin performance which really helps you keep your boards neat and high performing. They also offer “Tribes” at no extra cost so you could totally create an account just for that.
I am telling you though in all honesty, I would not go too crazy signing up with groups and Tribes until you get a nice and consistent groove going for yourself. These are the types of tasks that might eventually become a task for a Virtual Assistant so you can use your time for income producing activities.
The best response that I have found with the public is when I schedule the posts at least a half hour apart. What you would ultimately like to do is create a steady stream of posts all throughout the day, every single day. If you start going overload with posting you will notice people starting to unfollow you or even get kicked out of the group boards.
Don't worry, you will figure out a posting groove with an auto posting service. Once you take the time to get it all set up, you can schedule your posts as far ahead as you want. I recommend one day each month to get on the and get your posts scheduled for the next full month. That way you spend a few hours on it ONCE a month and can spend all your other time doing more income producing activities.
The only reason I don't recommend doing more than a month in advance is because you really just don't know what could change, and if you have a shit ton of posts scheduled for the next 6 months and then decide to change service carriers or change affiliate programs, then you will have to go back and delete ALL those posts you scheduled.
Especially when you are first learning how to use the auto post programs. It is super easy to make mistakes, and you don't want to have to delete more than a month's posts. Trust me (as you can tell from this long and drawn out rant, I have done this before, lol).
4.)engaging with other boards & profiles
If you don't engage with others, do not expect that for yourself. This is the funnest part because you will make new friends, learn about new tools, & cool concepts to structure for your blog.
If you want to eventually collaborate with someone and make an irresistible blog post this is the way to go about it.
Start following awesome bloggers that are doing exactly what you want to do. Start commenting on their posts and products, ask questions, etc.
You want to make yourself known online. Just remember that some people are always gonna know more than you, and some people are always gonna know less, so this puts you in an awesome position of finding a mentor and using your learned skills to teach others that are going to look up to you. YOU will then be the expert, and continue to grow the beautiful cycle of becoming an online entrepreneur. And most importantly- SHARE, SHARE, SHARE!!!!!!!!!
***on a side note- when a board instructs you that you have a 3 post minimum per day, this means that whether you OR someone else wrote that post, every single one counts within the limit. So, 3 means 3 (in this specific example).
