Yoga and meditation has been a COMPLETE game changer in my life. I started practicing (OFF and ON) since I was in my early 20's, and it has helped me through SOOOOOO many things. Yoga can be a source of self improvement, self growth, and an outlet for anything you have going on in your life. It has helped me with so many stressful situations, and anytime that I notice I don't feel as well (in general in life) I always notice an absence of yoga and meditation.
It may not be for everyone, BUT if it might be for you, it is definitely worth giving it s shot! Yoga is a practice that can be done by yourself, with your family (even your little ones!), in a class, or on your own. If you have not done it before, I would absolutely recommend doing it in a class at least once because the teacher can spot minor details (like you bending a certain way or not moving a limb far enough) that could make a HUGE difference! Once you get the logistics down, you can do it whenever and whereever! Even if you create a little 5 minute a day sequence for yourself, you will notice an extreme difference in a lot of ways. For one, you will feel more at peace…the art of yoga also includes practice of focusing the mind. In our generation that is so important because we have so many dang distractions, so when we have a prime example of how to focus and quiet our minds so that our “ID” doesn't take over and destroy our lives, we HAVE to take advantage. Personally I have had the pleasure of growing up and overall just BEING around down-to-earth people so the intrigue of meditation and mind control has always been of interest.
If you need some motivation and insight, these are a few of the awesome books that got me interested in taking control of my life…and that anyone can do it too…as long as you have the desire to be better and to constantly be learning new things.
Being mindful, practicing yoga, and practicing meditation all go hand in hand…so if you learn about one, it will not fully come to fruition until you have a general understanding of ALL of them.
As the daughter of a yoga teacher, I feel I have a duty to support fellow yoga teachers, but if you cannot afford an additional $10-$15, I totally get it, BUT, for me it is totally worth it. If you would go to a class in person the price would be AT LEAST $10/class, so when I pay for unlimited online classes I feel as though it is a complete STEAL:) Here is the site that I go to, and you will get a free trial, to make sure you are a fan, but the reeeeaaaaally cool thing is that you can download the classes you take, so you can do them over and over!
