DIY Craft Time- The Bored
We have all heard it THOUSANDS of times, and heck we even used to whine about the aching of a rainy day…or any boring day for whatever reason. There is a quick fix, and that is to make a BORED JAR.
What you will need is:
*pack of plain or colored craft sticks
*permanent markers and/or pens
*some type of cup or jar ( I always use an old baby food jar cause it is super easy and costs absolutely nada!).
The great thing about this craft is that it takes a decent amount of time and brainstorming for the kids to figure out how they would like to make them, and what they would like them to say.
Here are some ideas for some fun things to do when bored:
*make paper airplanes & see who's goes the farthest
*make dream catchers
*play hide and go seek
*build a tent
*play a card game
Here are some other MOM-minded ideas:
*organize your closets
*sweep the kitchen
*do your laundry
*any chore you feel needs to be done:)

Now, for the jar. I have a TON of beads in my craft area, so I just went crazy with glueing beads, or colored string, or tissue paper to the outside of the jar/cup to make it beautiful. And Voilla!
Next, the craft sticks. I put stickers on the tops just because my lil baby girl loves her some stickers:) But this is the part where you take your list of things to do, and begin writing one task at a time on each stick.
Permanent markers are easier to write on the stick but they bleed with the grain of the craft sticks. The pen won't bleed, but sometimes has a rough time being able to write on the sticks at all…so that decision is totally subjective.
That is it! Now they have one or more jars FULL of things to do, and if you hear them whining about being bored all you will have to do is tell them to get their jar out. I have found it really helps teach them that there are plenty of things to do always, and they will decrease in the itching anxiousness of boredom.
I have a list of 100 things you can add to the Bored Jar list if you are having trouble brainstorming stuff…it is hard to get your mind thinking in that way at first.
